You know what I love about technology? How it keeps getting better – especially when it comes to women’s health. 🎉 If only we had this level of innovation when our mothers were going through perimenopause! But now, it’s easier than ever to track your health with just a push of a button. 📲

And it’s not just about tracking your cycle anymore. As we get older, it’s about tracking your whole menopausal journey – especially those pesky perimenopause symptoms that sneak up on us when we least expect them.

I’ve had so many women share with me how tracking their symptoms has changed the game for them. It’s not just about counting hot flashes – it’s about understanding your body, finding the right relief, and feeling empowered through the changes. So, let me share why tracking your symptoms should be a non-negotiable part of your menopausal journey.

1. Identify Patterns in Your Symptoms

I’ll be honest, when I started tracking my own symptoms, I was blown away by how much I didn’t know about my body. Hot flashes at night? Check. Irritability right before my period? Oh yeah. Once I started tracking, I realized my body was telling me patterns I’d been ignoring for years.

For example, Jenny, a client of mine, noticed her hot flashes only happened on the days she had caffeine. The days she skipped it? Less intensity. 🤯 By tracking, she pinpointed triggers she never would have noticed otherwise. Tracking helps you understand what to expect – and when to expect it!

2. Empower Your Doctor with Accurate Information

Tracking isn’t just for you – it’s a powerful tool for your doctor too! You need to be able to tell them exactly what’s going on so they can help you craft a plan that works for you. Another one of my clients was struggling with severe mood swings but didn’t realize they were linked to certain foods she was eating. When she started tracking, she was able to show her doctor the connection. This led to a more tailored treatment plan and much better results.

Your doctor needs the full picture, so give them the best shot at helping you!

3. Detect New or Intensified Symptoms

Menopausal symptoms don’t always hit you like a ton of bricks. Some sneak in. I remember thinking I was fine in the beginning of perimenopause, only to notice new symptoms popping up months later. Be proactive – tracking helps you catch new or intensified symptoms early, so you can take action.

4. Map Out Your Next Steps

I get it, the transition to post-menopause can be a little . . .  unnerving. But tracking your symptoms helps you prepare for what's next. For example, Jenny noticed that some of her symptoms started shifting, which told her she was entering the next stage of menopause. With this knowledge, she could adjust her routine to dealing with the new symptoms that came up. Tracking gives you the roadmap you need to stay ahead of the curve.

5. Stay on Track with Your Health Routine

Let’s face it – keeping up with a health routine during menopause can feel like chasing your tail. But tracking your symptoms helps you stay consistent. For example, I realized that when I didn’t get enough sleep, my symptoms were worse. When I adjusted my routine to prioritize better sleep, I felt better and had fewer intense symptoms.

If you’re noticing that your hot flashes spike after that second cup of coffee, or that your stress levels are affecting your sleep, tracking can help you make those necessary adjustments.  Tracking doesn’t just keep you aware – it keeps you on track. Start today, and give yourself the best chance for feeling better.
